Druid Herbal for Imbolc
Thursday, Feb 7, 2019
6:30pm – 9:00pm
The Earth is stirring from her winter sleep and our own bodies are yearning for the fresh vitality of spring, called Imbolc on the ancient Irish calendar. The priests and priestesses of the indigenous Celtic lineage, the Druids, lived seasonally with the Earth and so to may we. We will journey with Irish goddess Brighid, maiden of Spring as we discover herbs and remedies to nourish the physical and spiritual body during this time of awakening, beginnings and inspiration. We will create an aromatherapy spritzer in ritual and a nutrient rich revitalizing herbal tea to deeply nourish and energize for spiraling outward after the long dark winter.
Instructor: Tonja Reichley, Herbalist (Bsc, MBA), Ritualist and Author, has been teaching herbal classes rooted in Irish traditions, healing and spirituality for over 15 years. She has lived part time on the west coast of Ireland for 12 years, continually learning from the land, the plants, the people and the Ancestors as well as from her teacher Gina McGarry, whom she studied with in a three-month immersion in 2001, in residence in Ireland and continues to learn from. Tonja graduated from the Rocky Mountain School of Botanical Medicine in 2000, began her first herbal business, MoonDance Botanicals, in 2002. She opened a store-front in Denver Colorado in 2004, had a thriving herbal business and sold it to long-time customers in 2016 and it is still a cornerstone of the herbal scene in Denver and beyond. Tonja has lead sacred journeys to Ireland for 12 years and continues to do so, including a two week Herb School over Summer Solstice. In 2019 she will be guiding pilgrimages over Beltaine and Autumn Equinox.
