Needle, Knot, and Cord: Spell Crafting Workshop
Sunday, May 12, 2019
2:00pm – 4:00pm
The history of needle, knot, and cord work is a form of magic that is practiced around the world. From sailors using knot magic on the sea to women sewing protective charms into the cloaks of those they love, people have been using textiles to help bind and bolster their magical practice. We will learn some of the history and myths/fables of textile magic, how to focus your intention into different forms of this magic, and discern which form of thread work will be appropriate for different situations. In this workshop, we will also be practicing knotwork and embroidering magical symbols/sigils of your choice.
Emily Joy is a rune worker and the artist behind Wood Fire Ink. She first discovered the runes about eight years ago, and has become more and more immersed in their history and lore ever since. The runes are a tool to be used on the journey toward personal understanding. She uses this understanding and study to create runes and bindrunes by galdring, or singing in ceremony. Emily Joy is passionate about educating others on all that the runes have to offer, and wants everyone to be able to access this ancient knowledge wherever they go. Learn more about the runes and her work by following her Instagram account, @woodfireink, or sit with her as she does a full rune casting every other Sunday from 3-6.
